Tadesse Girma, PhD

Dr. S. Tadesse Girma, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine in the School of Public Health and Health Education, at the University of Georgia at Augusta, where she teaches a course on reproductive and fetal health. She also leads the research, clinical, and regulatory consulting programs for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Georgia Health Science Center and practices on behalf of the Georgia Health Resources Department, the Georgia Department of Public Health, the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the Georgia State Medical Society, the Atlanta-Piedmont Association of Family Planning, and the Atlanta Regional Family Planning Association. She is also a registered nurse a nurse practitioner and is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Georgia Medical and Dental Association, the Georgia Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Georgia Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Atlanta Adoption Association, and the Georgia Medical Group. Her research interests include the development of guidelines for reproductive and fetal health (including recommendations for safe abortion as well as contraception) and for pregnant women during the second trimester, the risk factor and outcomes associated with early and late abortion and the effects of abortion on women’s psychosocial, physical, and marital well-being. Her published or ongoing research includes a variety of topics involving reproductive and fetal health.

Dr. Tammal R. Barlow, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where she conducts research into the medical aspects of pregnancy and childbirth and provides services to pregnant women and their children. She is a member of the Texas Society of Reproductive Health, American Pregnancy Advisory Committee, the Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Texas Pregnancy Advisory Group. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Texas Section of the International Society of Gynecologic Ultrasounds.
